Candidates smile for the camera at a hustings event held in the Aviemore Hotel. BSCG congratulates Badenoch Climate Action & Sustainable Strathspey on holding this well-attended event on 20 April.
In winding up the evening, Bill Sadler, who ably chaired the evening, emphasised the virtues of brevity, quoting lines about a 'wise old owl.'
The version of this (published in the satirical magazine Punch in 1875) is as follows:
There was an owl liv'd in an oak
The more he heard, the less he spoke
The less he spoke, the more he heard.
O, if men were all like that wise bird..
The Scottish Green candidate Ariane Burgess (seated second from right, wearing blue) further reminded everybody that appropriately enough, a parliament of owls is a collective noun for a group of owls.
