BSCG Welcomes Red Squirrel Feedback from the Public

The Following letter was published in the Strathy of 25 Mar 2004

Sir,
Please can I thank the many Strathy readers from across the district who took the time to provide invaluable information about squirrels to the Badenoch and Strathspey Conservation Group (BSCG) following the recent article on red squirrel conservation ?

One of the things BSCG was seeking information on was stretches of road that are currently proving particularly dangerous for squirrels. Readers have supplied much useful information on these accident black spots. We will be using this information to discuss with the National Park and others measures to improve road safety for squirrels such as warning signs.

So far ( and we we are delighted that information is still coming) we have received no records of grey squirrels or any squirrels suffering from disease.

We continue to be interested in receiving information on where readers are seeing squirrels and their signs, on accident black spots on any sightings of possible grey squirrels and on any squirrels that look unwell.

Anyone with squirrel information to report is invited to email bscg@zetnet.co.uk or phone 01479 821491.
