Glenmore Dry Ski Slope

Following a press report in the Press and Journal about a planning application for a dry ski slope at Glenmore a  BSCG spokesperson made the following comments:

"To some it seems like hype that this 18m slope is being hailed as a Glenmore solution to the lack of snow on Cairn Gorm. Perhap's it is telling that Bob Kinnaird, the Chief Executive of  loss-making CML calls it 'a tremendous idea'. Bill Wilson however with good reason comments that the operators are more interested in providing facilities for bus trips than providing facilities for beginner skiers. He sees that the funicular has added to difficulties for beginners on Cairn Gorm. We will study the ski slope proposal. However now we are more concerned by a major proposal for recreational developments at the Sluggan end of Glenmore Forest with far reaching and we believe very damaging implications for quiet recreation and wildlife in this wonderful area."
