Cairngorms National Park Debate
LETTER IN THE SCOTSMAN BY CAIRNGORMS AUTHORITY DR ADAM WATSON 7 December 2002 (The published version omitted the sentence in italics). Alan Melville (5 December) doubts my suggestions for parliamentary action on a Cairngorms national park. Such suggestions are the aggrieved public’s only means left, other than at the next election. Today I heard that MSPs will get an opportunity to vote on this, but are allowed only 15 minutes for debate, another affront. Westminster government provides English parks with full planning powers and no political interference over boundaries. We would have been better off without a Scottish parliament. DR ADAM WATSON
